Derek Ramsay transfers to TV5!
Willie Revillame has announced it last Saturday on Wil Time Bigtime and it has just been confirmed by ABS-CBN.
The Kapamilya network has released an official statement regarding Derek’s transfer to TV5, which reads:
“Derek Ramsay has decided to transfer to TV5. For months, ABS-CBN has exerted efforts to make him stay as a Kapamilya. TV5, however, offered him an amount that was difficult for him to refuse. We thank Derek for the many years he has been with ABS-CBN.” - Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN Corporate Communications Head
In a telephone interview with PEP, however, the actor said he has not signed a contract with TV5 yet. There has been an offer but he has not yet signed any contract to formalize everything.
And despite the mention of money in ABS-CBN’s statement, Derek told PEP that it is really not the reason why he decided leave the Kapamilya network.
He said he has been waiting for ABS-CBN to give him projects that are inline with his interests and personality but there has been none.
It’s the projects that are being offered to him by TV5 that made him want to look into the offer more deeply. He said the Kapatid network mentioned Amazing Race and the Olympics, and obviously, these are projects that are in line with someone inclined to sports like Derek.
Derek said he has e-mailed Gabby Lopez, ABS-CBN chairman and CEO, that he is not renewing his contract with ABS-CBN. He had been with ABS-CBN for six years and he decided it was time to change.
