Pinoy Idol

I'm sure many of us are waiting for Pinoy Idol. I was somehow thankful that it moved from ABC 5 to GMA 7. It will get much more attention in the latter, really. And who better host the show than Raymond Gutierrez? He's one of the few local celebrity hosts who knows what he's doing. Fluent, articulate, pleasant to look at, and not "baduy". Paolo Bediones (accdg to inquirer.net) didn't make it as host of the show due to age restrictions. Fremantle, Idol's franchise holder, wants the host to be 30 below. Paolo Bediones is already 33. But had Paolo been 30, Raymond Gutierrez is still the better choice. Raymond (like Ryan Seacrest) is more... glamorous.

Also, Regine Velasquez wasn't able to make it as host of Pinoy Idol. Is that the reason why she's leaving GMA? (This is just my own opinion) She doesn't have Pinoy Pop Superstar and Celebrity Duets to host anymore... Is it like she's expecting GMA to put her as host of Pinoy Idol? Well, Fremantle (again) says that singers are "not even considered for the job, so as not to take attention away from the contestants." And for goodness' sake, Regine V can't even host! All she does is stand on stage with a microphone, and read the idiot boards. I'm a big fan of Regine but please, let the singers do the singing, and the hosts do the hosting.

Judges include Ogie Alcasid, Jolina Magdangal and Wyngard Tracy. Pinoy Idol premieres April 5, 2008, Saturday.

Kapitan Boom!

Jon Avila (formerly Jon Mullaly) of the PBB Celebrity Edition 2 is gonna be Kapitan Boom on the show with the same title. His hunky appeal and Caucasian looks have caught much attention in the local showbiz even before the PBB stint. How can you ignore this pic, anyway?
He would be getting his much deserved attention for sure, with more focus on his buffed bod rather than his acting. Well, that is why he is Kapitan Boom. All covered but all curves visible. And ooh, look at the curves.

New Dance Steps

There's a new dance for the old theme song of PBB Teen choreographed by Jolas, the tall teen from Bulacan. They are actually "partnered" since there are still 7 boys and 7 girls. I wonder how the dance would be if a boy/girl got evicted. Surely someone will dance without a partner. Anyway, Nan from Davao is so stringy I wonder if they kept him starved back in Davao. On the other hand, I like Josef's tummy. Is that shaved? Well it looked like shaved on the Uber episode this afternoon.

My dear Priscilla is having a crush on Ejay. Priscilla, btw, should be the one with the "bubbly" title - The Bubbly Deaf Girl (perhaps). Bubbly shouldn't have been Jieriel's title. I didn't see any "bubbly-ness" in her "Kilalanin Natin si Jieriel" video. Lots of drama, actually.

Robi, The True Blue Atenean

This boy is so clean cut he's too good to be true. He's the type that mothers would like their sons to be, or the type of boy moms would like to have for their daughters. I don't think he has shown something aside from his cute face, though. We've yet to watch out for this young lad.

He is so blessed in the genes aspect. Acting talent? We've yet to discover. But then again, showbiz is in his blood. Should we even doubt his potentials? I bet he's a Gerald Anderson in the making.

The Fart Boy

I really think Alex Anselmuccio is just feeling pressured about the circumcision thingie that's why he wants to give it a try - the rest of the guys are cut; Filipino culture; and the show about being a true Filipino. Being uncut is no big deal, just like what the pediatric surgeon who talked to him said in the tv episode a while ago. But if you were a contestant in a reality show that's looking for a "true" Filipino teen, and Big Brother asked you if you wanted to be circumcised (which is a religious/cultural thing in the Philippines), would you likely say no?

The only thing that made me smile on tonight's episode was the "nagpasabog ng lagim" part. Josef? Fart boy? Haha. Hope it smells as good as he looks.

Jieriel proved to be sensitive, in contrast to the way she puts up a strong front. She cried when she wasn't able to dance right. Good thing she showed her sensitivity, at least people can see her other side. And love her for that.

Goodbye Chikezie

Goodbye Chikezie...

Great talent, indeed. But he was the least favorite among the viewers so he had to go. As Paula Abdul put it, there should be no regret whatsoever for whoever leaves because they're already in the top 10 and they have already proved their worth. One just have to be cut off each week. It just so happened that it was Chikezie tonight. He's a great singer, just kinda old fashioned.

And Ramiel Malubay did it again tonight. I really hope her voice cooperates next week, AND that she picks a good song. I'm really glad she made it, and even gladder that she was visible in the production number.

Alex Getting Circumcised?

My favorite housemate, Alex, was sent to the confession room with Josef Elizalde (who's also beginning to be my favorite). Big Brother pushed on the issue of Alex being "supot". Oh well, publicity. I'm sure Alex is now more popular than the other housemates for being uncircumcised and he would be talked about more if he decided to get circumcised while still in the show - and for that, more publicity for PBB, too. Big Brother asked Alex if he wanted to be circumcised and the 18 year-old Italian said yes, because his brothers were also circumcised at 18 here in the Philippines. The big Q is, will he do it while inside the PBB house? Big Brother is giving Alex the time to decide.

On other notes, the BBF (Best Buds Forever) thingie is starting to fail. What with Big Brother's efforts to test Josef and Robbi? Some housemates are starting to get suspicious of the two. "Hindi synchronized" ang mga kwento nila, 'ika nga ni Jieriel. And Beauty noticed how fake the picture that Big Brother produced was. Oh, anyway, I hope they don't starve next week. Their weekly allowance is at stake with the BBF task.

If Alex decided to get circumcised, would it be aired live? Haha now that's something.

AI Top 10 Performance

Ramiele Malubay was the first to sing with her rendition of Heart's Alone. IMO it was good, especially considering that she's sick. She doesn't have the flu, her voice "just went bye-bye". But honestly, I wished her voice cooperated because it's a big song and she could've done better. Only Randy Jackson didn't like it, though. Simon even said that after what Ramiele did last week, which he thought was failing, and she was still able to stay in the show, there's no question about her being able to stay after that Alone performance.

The forgettable performances for me include that of Jason Castro, chikezie, David A, and Kristy Lee Cook.

As much as they praised Michael Johns, I didn't really like it. He was trying to reach notes that just weren't in his range. I also noticed how David A's voice faltered at one point.

The best performance for me was that of David Cook. Michael Jackson's Billy Jean, rock style. He is the whole package.

The Deaf Girl

Priscilla Navidad is so much fun to watch. She's so natural. It seems that her disability doesn't affect her negatively at all. Quite surprising to know that she even won 1st runner up in the 2007 Miss Teen International pageant. I'm sure the viewers, like me, loves this girl from Davao. I'm personally looking forward to see her become part of the big four.

PBB Teen Edition Plus

I decided to have this blog for the love of television - and that of PBB, most especially. I am not gonna write about every single one of the housemates, though, for writing about some of them would be just a waste of time. I'm gonna write about those that just interest me, post pics of them, and make some commentaries as I view them from the local tv.

So there's fourteen (14) of them. And let's face it, all these "teens" want to make it into the show business big time. But just how many among them have the potential to be the next Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu? Well, I have the next Gerald Andersons but I can't see another Kim Chiu just yet. How about the next hunk? Omigawd I see two of them. Haha.

First off, let's start with Alex Anselmuccio.

This Italian Valentino is your typical naughty teen. You can see the mischief in his eyes and in his smile. And you can tell he knows he is good-looking, and most of all, he knows how to use his looks and his charm. His being supot (uncut) - a revelation in last night's episode - just adds to his hunky appeal. I know it's too early to tell but I don't think he's gonna make it all the way up, perhaps among the last to leave before the big four, but he will definitely have a good career in the local showbiz after.
